Fall Floods

Today I took the drone out to Honey Creek, Iowa to look for the failed levee. I didn’t have to go far to find it, either. What started out as a small leak this afternoon had turned into a full fledged waterfall by evening.

The Honey Creek Levee failed around 1:50PM on Wednesday.

The failure of the levee led to a release of river water into the farmlands west of I-29. The interstate hadn’t closed as of writing this, but a ramp from southbound I-29 to westbound I-680 had because it was under water.

The sun sets over a flooded Missouri River on Wednesday evening.

I didn’t do much photography because I was doing a live feed for Facebook, but I did manage a couple of good shots posted above.
